Established South Florida Homebuilder Hiring Finance VP

A closely held builder with 17 years of experience in South Florida and notably low employee turnover needs a new vice president of finance to join its senior leadership. Reporting directly to the company’s owners, he or she will truly have a hand in the direction of the organization and its projects. This company values its family friendly work culture. And the new VP will also get to play a role in projects with diverse business challenges and architecture, including urban infill development, redevelopment and traditional single-family neighborhoods.

The smaller size of the executive team this professional will join means he or she will make contributions across the organization, from lender negotiations to staff development to advising the board. Directly overseeing the controller and senior accountant, he or she will take ultimate responsibility for compliance and back-office functions. At the same time, this professional will supervise annual business planning, seeking out process improvements and opportunities for operational cost savings. Critical contributions to new projects will include analysis of potential deal structures, production goals and pricing, as well as negotiation with financing partners. The VP will also advise the company on profit forecasts and strategic plans across functional areas like marketing and operations. Other duties include oversight of the closing process and providing support for external accountants preparing division financial statements.

Deep knowledge of residential real estate finance and analysis is a must. Just as important, the successful candidate will possess the communication and negotiation skills required to obtain financing and work with individuals throughout the organization. This company is looking for at least five years of relevant experience at the director, controller, CFO or VP level. A bachelor’s degree is required, while a CPA and experience in South Florida markets are strongly preferred. The fast-changing nature of the work also requires a leader who is organized, deadline-minded and able to prioritize across multiple projects.
