National Homebuilder Hiring Division Controller in Washington, D.C.

A growing, publicly traded homebuilder noted for its excellent management practices is searching for a new division controller to provide financial and accounting support and advise its executive team.

Based in Fairfax, Va., the successful candidate will provided day-to-day financial guidance with the potential to improve upon all operational functions within the division. The controller will play a key leadership role in the land acquisition and feasibility process. Reporting to the division president, he or she will be responsible for monthly account reconciliations, allocations and financial statements. The job will entail financial forecasting, operational analysis and periodic review of job-cost data and project budgets. With this intelligence in hand, the successful hire will serve as a key adviser to the division president and the senior executive team.

Minimum requirements include a CPA, a bachelor’s degree in accounting and five to seven years of experience. Big 4/6/7 public accounting is required, as well as experience in homebuilding, real estate or related industries. Excel proficiency is mandatory, with knowledge of JD Edwards software preferred. Personal traits required for the division controller include a sharp focus on details and an ability to multi-task under strict deadlines.
