Purchasing Executive Needed to Join a National Builder’s Dallas Leadership

Dallas operations have expanded substantially in recent years, and this executive will assume responsibility for high-volume community, plan and trade-base management. The director of purchasing is responsible for the feasibility process of new communities and will help develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies. The new Dallas director will help maximize ROIC from existing assets through aggressive contract negotiations, quality house-cost management and annual department budget planning. In addition, talent development and employee engagement activities will be an essential part of this professional’s daily focus. Other duties will entail trade partner selection, as well as standard feature and option management, working with sales and construction staff to ensure effective implementation in the field. Production and trade-capability assessments to ensure this division meets its goals will also be a core responsibility.

Candidates should bring a relevant bachelor’s degree, along with seven to 10 years of experience in purchasing, procurement or sourcing. With oversight of 10 to 12 employees, that experience should include three to five years in management and an enjoyment of mentoring, coaching and developing. The new purchasing director will also have advanced knowledge of contracts, negotiation, budgeting, lean manufacturing, value stream analysis and quantitative assessment. ISCM accreditation is preferred. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are required.
