A leading builder with four decades in the business and communities in more than a dozen states needs an experienced executive to oversee its land acquisition in San Antonio. This position will offer the right person a chance to thrive in a rapidly recovering market that is currently one of this company’s most profitable. San Antonio’s housing starts are expected to increase this year by as much as 11 percent over 2012. A healthy employment rate supported by the city’s military presence and booming energy industry promises consistent demand for new housing, and this builder plans to close more than 400 homes this year. The new acquisition executive will capitalize on this growth while working with an ambitious company that shares an optimism for today’s housing market.
This executive’s analytical talent and deal-making prowess will underlie the development process from start to finish. His or Her duties will begin with research and analysis of potential lot acquisitions and new markets, in-line with the company’s long-term acquisition plan. He or she will then oversee due diligence for targeted properties, ensure contract terms are met and manage all aspects of local zoning and land-use planning. With the land purchased, the vice president will then coordinate development activities – including budget preparation and negotiation of labor and materials costs – up to the acceptance of the new lots by local government. Reporting to the division president, the acquisition VP manages these processes as the leader of the land department. As such, he or she will be responsible for hiring and managing all of the department’s personnel.
This position demands a deep background in acquisition, development and management. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and seven to 10 years of relevant experience, with five years in management. Land acquisition experience in Texas is preferred.
