Want to take a real stake in mixed-use and residential property projects that you help shape? Eager to step up your success in development leadership within a stable company that’s deployed more than $2 billion across major markets in the Southeast? A closely held firm dedicated to the professional development of its people is searching for the right development manager to execute projects from end to end. These will be large developments and redevelopments following the firm’s proven business model devoted to long-term investment and place-making. In turn, this new executive will receive a competitive salary, bonus potential and fund eligibility while working from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., or Charlotte, N.C.
Reporting directly to the company’s managing director of residential development, this new leader will head the design, approval and execution of projects. Prior to construction, he or she will create proformas, financial schedules and other analyses. The development manager will negotiate and enforce agreements with consultants and vendors, monitoring construction activity and preparing regular progress reports. This person will be an essential representative of the firm in discussions with municipal officials and the local business community while tracking relevant land use policies and public funding opportunities. Project duties can also encompass monthly draws, management of the approval process and negotiation of lease terms.
Candidates should bring five to seven years of related experience that includes work on mixed-use or residential projects. A degree is required, with a master’s in a construction-related field preferred. Past roles should demonstrate the ability to manage third-party general contractors on jobs up to $10 million. The new manager also will have a track record of evaluating acquisition and investment opportunities. His or her expertise should touch on construction scheduling, projections and project budgeting. Additionally, the development manager will have a talent for presenting project details in public forums and cultivating working relationships with public officials.
