Texas Homebuilder Hiring Design-Minded Professional to Guide Product Development

Are you proud of your construction background, both in the field and at the drafting table? Do you want to work for a tight-knit Texas builder making its mark in Temple and Bryan/College Station, with near-term plans to expand into North Austin? If so, a company that offers a range of attractive, highly customized homes needs a new product development associate to help craft plans and generate new designs.

Based in Temple, this professional will turn conceptual sketches into build-ready plans informed by a thorough understanding of building practices, materials and regulations. He or she will stay on top of design trends and incorporate them into the company’s offerings. The associate also will spend a share of the week in the field reviewing customers’ new homes, with the position serving as the point of contact for field personnel and subcontractors regarding plan issues.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a talent for incorporating the needs of multiple stakeholders into designs that meet this organization’s high standards. Five years of drafting for a homebuilder and three years of experience in the field would be ideal. AutoCAD proficiency is a must, with Revit 3D modeling experience a plus. The job requires extensive knowledge of single-family building techniques, products and code requirements, as well as deed restrictions. The product development associate also will need an understanding of value engineering and lean design. He or she will bring proven skills in problem solving, team communication and decision making.
