A national home builder with decades of sustained profitability is hiring a sales executive to join the leadership of its Austin division. This company seeks the right combination of management talent, residential knowledge and strategic vision in its new vice president of sales, who will enjoy earning potential commensurate with the high expectations of the position.
This VP will oversee four managers and 30 sales reps from more than two dozen communities, while creating the strategy that ensures their ongoing success. That includes multi-year planning and financial goal setting, as well as pricing strategy in concert with the division’s finance leadership. At the same time, he or she will lead the division’s sales efforts and staff, opening and operating all communities in the division. The position entails recruiting, developing and continuous coaching of the sales and marketing staff, with ultimate responsibility for achieving the financial targets set for them. This executive will also be an essential member of the division’s operating team working closely with the division president.
The position calls for at least two years of sales management experience at the division level. Credentials should include a relevant bachelor’s degree and real estate license, with a master’s degree and broker’s license a plus. Past experience should demonstrate effective relationships with leaders in the field and at the corporate level, as well as an ability to work across departments. The VP role demands both long-term vision and the tactical sense to adapt to changing objectives and market conditions. This includes an ability to gauge the competitive position of the division while developing operating strategies and pricing to drive business results. Accomplishing all this will require end-to-end knowledge of residential real estate sales; and this company is also looking for someone experienced with new homes. The successful candidate will be able to approach the job with creativity, leadership charisma and the attention to detail required to help run a division of this size.
