A successful home builder with an expanding presence in more than a dozen cities is seeking a leader to oversee purchasing in its San Antonio division. This company prides itself on its build quality, design and customer satisfaction. Its team members enjoy comprehensive benefits that include employee stock purchase and home purchase programs, while its decentralized culture and dedication to mentoring make it ideal for managers who enjoy the strategic and operational side of the business.
The divisional purchasing and estimating manager will join the operations team of a growing region in a high-visibility, supervisory position. For the San Antonio office, this will mean jumping into an established market for this company. The successful candidate will be fully accountable for floor-plan brick-and-mortar costs and strategic supply chain activities while working with the vice president of operations to research and implement new products and processes. Other duties include preparation of bid packages, contract negotiations, vendor training oversight, new contractor orientations, budget control and day-to-day maintenance of HMS and contract-management systems. This professional will also be a key contributor to the design selection process and will take responsibility for quarterly forecasting of brick-and-mortar costs.
To meet these challenges, the company seeks candidates with a bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or construction management, with a minimum of four years of experience in positions developing construction estimates and negotiating costs for labor and materials. The position also requires at least two years with a national home builder, in addition to management experience and knowledge of JD Edwards OneWorld software. The successful applicant will also be a self-starter who can serve as a multi-tasking, hands-on player.
