Reporting to the VP, the San Diego-based director of construction will take charge of new builds in the San Diego and Orange County regions. This person will develop and supervise project managers and their field staff, taking top-level responsibility for construction quality, schedules and budgets. This is a role with a heavy influence on day-to-day activities on site and will involve close work with architects, engineers and property leadership. As well, the director will update senior leaders on construction progress and department goals.
A related bachelor’s degree is preferred, as are 10-plus years in construction management. Candidates should have experience with garden apartment construction and a broad range of multifamily construction knowledge that encompasses scheduling, contracting, cost reporting, estimating and relevant regulations. Additionally, the new director of construction will be an excellent negotiator with proven skills in managing personnel.
