An advancement-minded property manager will soon have the chance to join one of Houston’s most successful commercial real estate firms. For more than 50 years, this closely held organization has built a diversified portfolio of services and properties under management in some of the city’s most recognizable districts. Its newest leadership opportunity, for example, will offer the right person the chance to oversee 350,000 square feet of prime Class A office space near I-10 and Beltway 8. Beyond the challenges of this role, the company also seeks someone who’s interested in professional growth and the chance to oversee larger assets down the line.
He or she will carefully implement the strategic plan for this property while overseeing all day-to-day aspects of its management. This will include the hiring, training and development of staff members and bid solicitation for work performed on the building. The property manager will also prepare annual and long-range budgets, implementing them and approving expenses. Additional duties will touch on rent collection, management reports, periodic inspections and working with tenants to ensure this firm’s high level of personal service is maintained.
Accordingly, the successful candidate will demonstrate considerable knowledge of real estate property accounting, budgeting and projections. Five to seven years of commercial office management experience is required, and a relevant bachelor’s degree is preferred. Also required are a real estate sales license and an RPA or CPM designation or candidacy for one of these designations. The property manager will also show an ability to recruit and train employees and to communicate effectively with a range of people inside and outside the company. Additionally, this organization looks favorably on involvement in community, charitable and professional organizations, such as the IREM, BOMA and CREW.
