Establish a New Region as a Respected Builder’s Midwestern Group VP

A rare career opportunity has emerged for the right homebuilding executive: The chance to expand a successful company’s business into a new region encompassing much of the Midwest. After decades of growth in other markets for high-end custom homes, this organization plans to expand into territories in five additional states over the next four years. Leading this effort will be a new Group Vice President reporting directly to the CEO and leaving a lasting mark on this company’s national footprint. Further enhancing the profile of this VP, he or she will have the chance to join an organization highly regarded by buyers for its prominent design talent and the culture of a closely held organization that genuinely values customer service.

This expansive role will begin with careful analysis of the company’s new target markets, the formation of a strategic growth plan, and modification of an already successful product line to meet regional needs. These markets will include Indianapolis; Louisville and Lexington, Ky.; and Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio, with the position located in one of those cities.

This organization leverages a unique franchise program to further its growth, and a substantial part of this job will involve identifying and recruiting builders to join the franchise network. This sales dimension of the Group VP’s role will be an important element of his or her performance, as expanding the franchise network will be critical to the new region’s success. Annual business plans created by the Group VP will include targets for franchise growth and for expansion of a model home network at the heart of this company’s long-successful marketing strategy. He or she will then coach franchise holders, helping them achieve their goals and holding them accountable to the company’s high standards. A range of other executive duties also will include the recruitment and management of exceptional employees for a newly established regional office.

Candidates should bring a combination of experience operating a homebuilding company in one or more of the targeted markets, along with past positions with a national or regional builder serving these markets. The company will be looking for someone exceptionally entrepreneurial to establish its presence in cities where it has not done business before. Doing so will require proven product skills, along with deep knowledge of single-family construction. Additionally, the new VP will need persuasive, presentation and sales acumen to facilitate franchisee recruitment.
