Award-Winning Southern Builder Seeks Carolinas Regional Vice President

An upmarket homebuilder with a three-decade reputation for customer service and architectural excellence has begun looking for a seasoned housing executive eager to move into a new level of leadership.

This will be the second-highest ranking position in the Carolinas region and an ideal opportunity for an ambitious, entrepreneurial climber who will benefit from further management exposure to all disciplines of the building process. More than just an operational executive, this company seeks a vice president to both participate in and help grow its highly successful custom homebuilder franchise program. Experienced local homebuilders join the franchise network for its proven operating format that includes an impressive catalogue of home designs and models, back-office support and business systems that take their businesses to the next level. The region vice president will sell and support this opportunity, uncovering new avenues for growth and working to expand the company’s thriving network of independent business owners.

The successful candidate will create annual plans that guide the expansion of the franchise program and ensure the success of its participants. He or she will set targets for new model home construction and will work closely with participating franchise homebuilders to help them profitability inherit the program, develop their individual business plans and ensure product quality. The vice president will also identify new target markets and create strategies for franchise growth within them.

Requirements for the position include broad experience in senior management at a regional or national homebuilding firm – ideally in a division management capacity or a step below division management. This is a job for an aspiring leader ready to jump to the next level of responsibility, akin to an assistant coach preparing to take on a team of his or her own. The company will also consider candidates with prior experience running a custom homebuilding company with revenues in excess of $15 million. Candidates should bring a strong track record in sales, as this will be crucial to facilitating growth. Additionally, multi-dimensional homebuilding experience is critical. Candidates should be cross-trained in multiple disciplines, such as land acquisition, product development, purchasing, construction and leadership. Excellent communication and management skills, as well as computer proficiency, are also key to the position.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have buy-in, independence and a potential for wealth generation that go well beyond the traditional executive position. With financial assistance from the company, all regional vice presidents must take ownership of their own franchise within 24 months with a managing partner who handles day-to-day operations. In this manner, all region executives experience first-hand the company’s innovative and proven approach to selling quality homes that this company’s founders have developed over six decades in the business.
