Construction Executive Sought by Diversified Property Firm in Michigan

A company with more than 60 years building high-value commercial and residential properties needs a seasoned manager to serve as its new assistant director of construction. Working directly with the organization’s top leadership, he or she will oversee a wide range of responsibilities essential to the company’s development. This is an organization that offers both the reach of a national portfolio and the high career visibility of a closely held company. Its Class A assets include desirable apartment properties and senior living communities, as well as commercial real estate.

Reporting to the director of construction in suburban Detroit, the new assistant director will take a hands-on role in the management of large projects. Duties will touch on budget development, scheduling, contract negotiations, entitlements and permitting. Superintendents and project management will report to the assistant director. This person also will help guarantee a safe work site and compliance with the company’s high quality standards. As well, he or she will help resolve problems on the project level.

The successful candidate will bring several years in construction management, which should include field experience and past multi-family and/or senior housing projects. Past positions should demonstrate successful budgeting, scheduling and project oversight. A bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in construction management. The new assistant director of construction will be detail-oriented, communicate well and maintain a highly professional demeanor.
