NYC Construction Finance Manager and Accountant Positions Offer Equity, Advancement Potential

Employee-owned and relationship-focused, a standout name in construction management is looking for two finance professionals to join its office in New York. This organization has helped build cultural institutions, large commercial projects and landmark retail properties across the country, all with an eye to sustainability and high-quality construction. Newly opened positions for a senior finance manager and a project accountant will offer the right people the opportunity to grow their careers as part of dynamic teams within this organization that encourages professional development.

Senior Finance Manager

This professional will lend his or her construction finance expertise to division leaders, with substantial potential for advancement as the company continues to grow. The senior manager will oversee all financial aspects of a sizeable construction operation as part of the New York finance team. Specifically, projects will focus on contracts in retail with a relatively fast pace to completion. Leading three to five direct reports, this person will oversee all divisional budgeting, reporting, forecasting, contract audits and reconciliations. He or she also will seek out improvements to a range of accounting procedures, including billing and the close process. The senior finance manager will be an essential part of monthly estimate-to-complete meetings and will serve as a key source of additional financial insight for division executives.

The role calls for at least 10 years in the construction industry, with proven strategic planning and analysis skills. The successful candidate will know how to drive profit maximization and cost control. A relevant degree is required, as is experience in a similar role within a construction company. Public accounting experience is a plus. Communication skills, attention to detail, discipline and innovative thinking are required.

Project Accountant

This person will join a team of finance professionals providing essential support to fast-paced retail and hospitality projects. He or she will act as a liaison between teams handling accounting, finance and individual projects, providing in-person support at job sites and satellite offices as needed. In addition to helping individual project teams manage their day-to-day accounting, the project accountant will also contribute to a range of broader initiatives in the construction business. These include: monthly financial reports, group cost to completes, work-in-progress reports, revenue projections, budget reviews and additional analyses critical to project success.

Accounting experience is required, with an accounting degree and CMiC experience a plus. The successful candidate’s background will include at least three years in construction-industry project accounting. The role’s deadlines require a sense of urgency and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong organization and communication skills are also a high priority.
