National Homebuilder Hiring Vice President of Land in Denver

An opportunity has emerged for a deeply experienced leader in home construction to head the Denver land development efforts of a successful international builder. Along with compensation commensurate with the job’s responsibilities, this is a position with a wide reach and ample room for professional growth. Additionally, it offers a chance to help shape business plans and best practices within an award-winning company with more than $3 billion in diverse assets across nearly a dozen markets.

The vice president of land will provide strategic guidance for senior development managers and their teams as they develop multiple communities within a division with a balance sheet in excess of $250 million. This builder is looking for innovation, risk taking and forward thinking in its development leadership. These traits will inform a broad range of responsibilities that encompass: preliminary budgets and feasibility studies for prospective acquisitions, coordination of rezoning cases, management of new homeowners associations and metro districts, funding strategies, budget preparation, cash-flow projections and contract negotiation with third parties and local government officials. In addition to crafting the division’s operational plan and reporting on its results, this person will also advise senior executives on broader corporate strategy.

Requirements for the position include 15 years of progressive experience in land development, as well as a thorough understanding of finance and accounting. Educational credentials should include a degree in planning or engineering, along with a relevant master’s degree, such as an MBA. The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to think strategically, to take risk, and to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders inside and outside the company.
