The new purchasing and estimating manager will take on a wide scope of responsibilities. He or she will provide takeoffs for home plans, create construction cost budgets, contribute to value engineering plans, procure materials, maintain hard construction costs and oversee the company’s cost database. This professional will also serve as a critical point of contact for trade partners, networking with subcontractors, preparing bid packages, managing the purchasing process and monitoring the performance of contracts.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, technology-savvy and prepared to add value to the company. The job calls for a relevant bachelor’s degree or extensive experience related to the position. Hiring managers will look for familiarity with material takeoffs for new home plans and construction cost budget creation. Purchasing experience is mandatory. Candidates should bring knowledge of the construction industry and value engineering, as well as strong communication and analytical skills. Technical knowhow should encompass PlanSwift or similar estimating software and builder database programs, ideally Miitek Sapphire Build. CAD knowledge is a plus.
