Respected Texas Builder Hiring Land Development Manager in Houston

A privately held, Houston-based homebuilder with a reputation spanning nearly a half century for build quality, fast delivery and customer satisfaction is hiring a land development manager. Reporting to the senior vice president of development, this person will have an important role in the formation of new communities in Houston – currently one of the hottest markets for single-family homes in the country.

This position lies at the center of the development process, with the successful candidate taking responsibility for a broad range of functions. These begin with assistance in the due diligence and acquisition process. The development manager then coordinates the approval of plats, subdivisions and engineering plans while acting as a builder representative before local governments, utility districts and homeowners associations. During construction, he or she will coordinate and manage the work of all development contractors, outside engineers and utility companies, monitoring project schedules, assisting with bid selections and approving payments.

To administer these and other responsibilities, the company prefers candidates with a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a thorough understanding of Texas municipal utility districts. Candidates should show their track record in single-family development and will also be expected to possess computer skills that include an advanced understanding of Excel. Also essential are knowledge of development engineering design principles and an ability to negotiate and communicate well with multiple stakeholders.
