A fast-growing builder with a national reach needs a hands-on vice president to lead its land acquisition in Tampa. More than a manager, this person will resemble a true business partner in a division run like its own local builder, working closely with a tenured staff. The region encompasses 20 communities in five counties, with an expected growth in sales of 40 percent for this year. This long-standing company will hire someone who can effectively coordinate the land acquisition process, from price negotiations to the completion of lot development.
His or her leadership will help the company identify and research all potential acquisition opportunities, including raw land and finished lots. Duties will entail cash-flow and pro-forma financial modeling, preparing CMAs and managing the due diligence process. While overseeing land department personnel, this person will also oversee all aspects of projects’ zoning and planning processes. Candidates should demonstrate their skill at chasing deals, coordinating with attorneys, budgeting, entitlements, department management and financial analysis.
The new vice president will be enthusiastic about the industry, possessing a knack for interpersonal communication, negotiation and multitasking. The company requires a bachelor’s degree, seven to 10 years of related experience and knowledge of market research tools. Strong, established relationships in the local market are required.
