Florida Purchasing Director Needed for a National Builder’s Most Successful Division

Seasoned Florida purchasing executives take note: An opportunity has emerged to work within the most successful division of a longtime leader in the U.S. home construction market. This builder is admired, not only for its soaring value in the last year, but also for its commitment to employee development, diversity, customer service, brand diversification and the loyal treatment of trade partners. It’s built a national presence through decades of strategic investment, and it needs the right person to help further that profitable track record in Florida.

Based in Naples, the South Florida division director of purchasing will contribute essential leadership to high-volume communities in a division closing about 1,500 units annually. This will encompass contract negotiations, production capability assessments and quality control. While managing good trade partner relationships, the successful candidate will also work with sales and construction teams to ensure effective communication and implementation in the field. This will entail house cost forecasting, standard feature and option management, employee development, budget authority and trade partner selection. At the strategic level, this individual will work with the finance team on the feasibility process for new communities. He or she will help develop purchasing strategies while acting as an integral contributor to the division operating team, setting business strategy, ensuring efficient new community startups and maximizing ROIC.

Candidates should bring a relevant bachelor’s degree, along with seven to 10 years of purchasing experience. With potential oversight of eight to ten people, that experience should include three to five years in management and an enjoyment of mentoring. The division director of purchasing will also have advanced knowledge of contracts, negotiation, budgeting, lean manufacturing, value stream analysis and quantitative assessment. In addition to technical knowledge, this company will be looking for strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
