This position reports to the operations VP and plays an important part in the personnel management of the Chicago market. The new director will hire, train and coach a staff of superintendents, technicians, resource managers and others, taking top-level responsibility for all rehabs, turns and maintenance across a large geographic area. This person will work closely with senior management and other departments to meet property objectives. His or her oversight will include approvals for large repairs, preventative maintenance plans, the team’s day-to-day maintenance calls and related payments. The director will provide strategic guidance on improvements to properties, reviewing rehab budgets and advising executives on capital investments within the portfolio.
The company is looking for someone with at least seven years of relevant experience, including five years in a supervisory role. Past positions should demonstrate broad knowledge of property maintenance, related accounting functions, fair housing laws, capital projects management and renovations in single- or multi-family housing. A relevant degree is preferred. The successful candidate also will possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
